Choosing the Right Hold Downs for Your Shade Shed

Choosing the Right Hold Downs for Your Shade Shed

Prepare Not Repair! Reading Choosing the Right Hold Downs for Your Shade Shed 3 minutes

When it comes to installing your Shade Shed, one of the most important decisions is how you anchor it down. Hold downs are what keep your shed stable and secure against wind, weather, and everyday use. The right choice depends on your site conditions, whether you already have a slab, and how permanent you want your shed to be.

At Transportable Shade Sheds (TSS), we’ve designed four engineered hold down options, each built for strength, reliability, and specific installation settings. Let’s break them down so you can choose the best fit for your project.

1. Ground Anchors – Strong, Simple, Semi-Permanent

If you’re installing your shed straight onto bare earth, Ground Anchors are your go-to.

Best for: Semi-permanent installs on good, cohesive soil
Why choose: No concrete required, fast to install, engineered durability

Our Ground Anchors are designed in-house using 4mm and 6mm galvanised aluminium. They deliver serious holding power without the need for concrete – perfect if you want flexibility down the track but still need a secure solution now.

2. Concrete Slab Kit – The Classic, Permanent Option

Already have a slab? We’ve got you covered.

Best for: Permanent sheds on existing concrete slabs
Why choose: Heavy-duty fixings, simple and secure install

Our Concrete Slab Kit uses hot-dipped galvanised saddle plates and dynabolts to fix your shed directly to the slab. With 5mm thick steel plates, this option is built to last. Just allow for 100mm from the slab’s edge to prevent cracking and you’re set with a solid, permanent foundation.

3. Concrete Pier Kit – Permanent Strength Without a Full Slab

If you don’t have a full slab but want a rock-solid installation, the Concrete Pier Kit is ideal.

Best for: Rural or uneven blocks without a slab
Why choose: Long-term stability, engineered strength

The kit is installed into individual piers at 450mm wide x 600mm deep, offering serious staying power without pouring a full slab. Heavy-duty saddles and fixings are included to keep your shed standing strong for the long haul.

4. Edge Saddle Kit – Clean, Sleek, and Secure

Want your shed to sit neatly on the edge of a slab? The Edge Saddle Kit is designed specifically for that.

Best for: Slabs where you want a flush, seamless finish
Why choose: Strong hold, professional look

This kit locks over the slab’s edge with a galvanised edge saddle and fixings, creating a tidy, purpose-built installation that doesn’t just hold – it looks great too.
